To post you must register:
In order to participate actively in the NCVBTalk discussions, you have to be a member first. Membership is free. Simply look at the top of any page to the right of the title for "Log in or Register." Click on "Register." Once you register, you can also alter your member profile by clicking on "Profile" and changing any of the settings you want to change (ex. for people to be able to see your birthday, email, etc.).
Why "guests" cannot post:
We require that you be a member in order to post for the sake of the integrity of the board. Already you can post basically anonymously by working under a creative username rather than your own. Additionally, the administrator and moderators already have a limited amount of control over the board - and we want it that way because this board is intended to be used for the NC volleyball community and by the NC volleyball community. However, if board users can post as "guests" then the administrator and moderators cannot control "guests" who violate the rules of the board (which are posted at the top of every board). If members consistently violate posting rules, the moderators are able to enact some restrictive penalties which keeps the board a safer, more positive, purposeful place for all. If "guest" posters were allowed and got out-of-hand, there would be no way to keep them from posting offensive and/or inappropriate material again and again.
How to create a new thread (discussion topic) after you have registered:
Once you are logged into the board, go to the main page where all the topics/boards are listed. Once you click on the board you are interested in and that page comes up, you will see an option on the top right-hand corner of the board page for "new thread." To create a new thread/topic within that board, click on "new thread" and the page that comes up will allow you to create a title and an initial post for your new thread that others will then be allowed to post on, as well.
How to post a reply to an existing thread:
If you are a registered member, you will automatically see the option for posting a "reply" on each thread page. You can also look at the box at the bottom of each page for the "Quick Reply" option.
Using the "quote" feature:
You can also use the "quote" feature to reference a previous post to which you want to reply. Please use this feature if you are replying specifically to a post that is not the most recent one.
Sending a personal message to another member:
You can send a personal message to another NCVBTalk member by clicking on "members" (at the top under the title) and then click on the message icon in the last column -"extras" - next to the username of the member to whom you wish to send a message. You can also message the Administrator this same way with questions. To report inappropriate material, though, use the "report to mod" button located at the bottom of every post.
